well that sucked.

I don't know.. there's just something about Bruce Willis pwned by a girl that just doesn't cut the mustard for me.

Bruce Willis was pwned by himself, or at least a past failure of his character is what killed him...

To understand this, we must remember Bruce (the Jackal) shot Isabella (the former Basque extremist) but he failed to kill her. Instead Bruce only wounded Isabella and succeeded in killing her unborn child (of whome Ricard Gere "Declan Mulqueen" was the father).

Various quotes thru out the film clue us in to the ending:

Declan Mulqueen: "And as to making mistakes, he's spent twenty years in a trade that doesn't forgive error."

Valentina Koslova: "She's Basque, isn't she?"
Declan Mulqueen: "Aye."
Valentina Koslova: "They say Basques live by the vendetta. If they hate someone it's to the death."

Declan Mulqueen: "A man like this (The Jackal) doesn't make mistakes."
Valentina Koslova: "No? They always make one somewhere. Isn't that how you were caught?"

So in a trade which does not forgive error, the Jackal failed to kill a Basque extremist, but did kill her unborn child. As a Basque, she would have a vendetta with the Jackal unto death and so the Jackal's only mistake (his past failure to kill Isablella)would eventually kill him when Isabella pulled the trigger on the Jackal.
