I think the more likely explanation is, as this was a TEST of whether the wish worked or not, that he went to tell her a 'false compliment', and ended up telling 'the truth' instead. Women can't handle the truth, so they become violent and aggressive (shown realistically).
Nowadays he would probably be in jail because the woman would've called the police and lied to the cops about what Fletcher did. So thankfully the scene is not completely realistic, only slightly.
I mean I always figured he said about the same thing he said to the woman in the elevator earlier that morning. Which is inappropriate. I don't think it's okay to tell a woman, especially one you don't even know, she has nice boobs. I myself would never tell anyone but my future girlfriend/wife that.
