Why didn't Quinn dissolve?

In the opening club fight scene we see Blade shooting Silver spikes from his rifle as well as using same said spikes manually by stabbing attacking vampires one by one turning them to ash. We also see him using his silverlaced sword to stab and dissolve them. However, when it comes Quinn's turn to take action the best Blade can do with both his spikes and sword is chop off Quinn's arm and spike him to the wall?

What part did I miss about Quinn being somewhat impervious to the effects of silver-laced weapons?

"Aim for the head or the heart, anything else is your ass," Blade to Karen Jensen, explaining the rules of the hunting the undead. He let's Quinn go b/c he is the messenger. He wants Quinn to be able to report first hand to Deacon Frost about Blade in action. Keep the rivalry going.

Blade II was the one where hitting them anywhere kills them started.

How? It was still the same rules as part 1 in terms of how the vampires get killed.
