shareWatching this movie numerous times, I believe Bill imagined Alice bringing up the second half of her dream. The first half doesn't have anything to do with the party. But once, she gets up and hugs him, Kubrick cuts back and forth between Cruise's reaction in a close-up and Kidman's profile in medium. Bill's mind is all warped and even paralyzed from what he witnessed. He's only hearing what his mind cannot grasp.
If we had a shot of Kidman in a close-up, than maybe we would have heard what she was actually saying.
