I don't get it

Sorry folks for being "blaspheme".
I understand that liking or not a movie/actor is always subjective and the majority wins but ... I really cannot understand why Sandler is so popular in the US.
I have watched quite a number of movies with him and I really don't get it.

Well, good for him

It is subjective and I have to state that I absolutely can't stand him and usually avoid his work. This is one of only 4 films of his I've enjoyed. The airplane scene is worth the extra laughs. I believe it's because the material and the ensemble casts (in each of said movies) have surpassed the annoying Sandler by huge strides. The Wedding Singer, Grown Ups (1), Reign Over Me and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. Don Cheadle and Kevin James overwhelm with their performances, leaving Sandler in the dust.

Most people who have enjoyed Adam Sandler's work will often point out that his best years are behind him. Really, the movies that got me and others into his brand were Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and Waterboy. These four, along with SNL, were what made him a household name. But now, his novelty has worn and he's only made trash for the last decade or so. I don't watch him anymore.
