Anakin Skywalker really DID bring balance to the Force!

Yup, after he came into his own, there were two Sith and two Jedi left, you can't get more balanced than that.

Thank you!! I've been saying this to my friends for years. It makes complete sense. I don't know why the jedi acted like he didn't actually fulfill the prophecy.

Lucas's interpretation is that the Sith are the source of imbalance, only with them gone could there be balance.

But that doesn't really explain how in TPM the Jedi thought the Force was not in balance but the Sith were extinct (except that they were wrong about why the Force was not in balance).

Only prequel defense I will make

Because remember that the subject of anakin didn't pop up till after the sith were revealed to be alive...when that was revealed the jedi looked to anakin

Lol... Two Ultra-powerful Sith and two exiled Jedi in hiding... not really balance at all.

Balance of the Force only happened after Darth Vader threw Palpatine into the Death Star trench, and then Darth Vader died himself. Just Jedi left, one, Luke Skywalker.

Of course with Disney's ret-con, we're gonna have Ezra and Ahsoka and Kanin running around the galaxy at this time. It's stuff like this that will destroy Star Wars.

Yoda said specifically that Luke would be the last of the Jedi. He didn't say, 'oh, there may be others running around in hiding', he told Luke he would be the last of the Jedi, plain as that.
