When Obi Wan is notified that Naboo is trying to communicate with them Qui-Gon is notified and tell them not to acknowledge or send any Transmissions so that whoever was trying to get a location trace on them could not moments later in the next scene Darth Maul is stating that they got a location track on the signal on the planet in the if the people on the ship had done what Qui-Gon ordered there would have been no Trace for Darth Maul to refer to
