its annoying how padme and anakin act like they have never meet.

During episode 2 anakin and padme act like they have never meet.

Did anyone else find this annoying?

reply

They act a little stilted at first because of their work roles but they open up pretty quickly after that.

reply

Besides a brief opening scene when they say its been 10 years since they meet, they say nothing else.
Qui gonn, darth maul and the other events from episode 1 are never mentioned.

reply

Umm, Anakin's first line in the movie is acknowledging they have met. Padme recognizes him despite not being a kid anymore.

I found the whole movie annoying

Actually, OP, Anakin goes off the rails in his very first scene of the movie speaking about Padme (which was her DECOY name in Ep I, not her real name) as if he is in love with her, infatuated with her, and obsessed with her, like some sort of perverted stalker.

In reality, it has been 10 years since he last laid eyes on her. He last saw her when he was but a 7-9 year old child. He would have forgotten her the moment he laid eyes on some of the Jedi hotties doing training at the Jedi Academy on trillion-population planet Coruscant, such as Aayla Secura.

It's all just executed so terribly (writing, directing) that it is indeed silly and creepy and just stupid.

Now compare that to a movie like "The Name of the Rose" where some old monk and his young novice do some investigation.

Given the premise that the Jedi are also basically celibate space-warrior-monks it makes a bit more sense. But of course - as you pointed out correctly... the Jedi are not catholic monks that almost never see females...

I'll defend the film here. They knew each other maybe for a few weeks when they were both children, and 10 years later they're reunited. It practially IS like they never met
