Mace Windu was one tough cookie

During his fight with Darth Sidious, there's a close up shot of Mace almost face to face with Sidious, and Mace looking very angry. He looked Sidious straight in the eye. He basically looked the devil straight in the eye. I would've been scared out of my mind, but Mace did really well in fighting Sidious, despite losing.

Didn't Mace actually win the fight? Seems like he only lost when Anakin lopped off his hand.

You may be right. Although I got the impression he was holding back for Anakin to arrive.
