Not only wouldn't deny it, would have to kill him.

The whole idea of denying a woman an abortion after being raped, by whoever, baffles me.

Mind you, denying a woman an abortion in any circumstances baffles me also.

How so? I'm all for abortions in special circumstances but abortion on demand in first world countries is pure idiocy, condoms people, CONDOMS.

^ Oh yeah because condoms are 100% reliable.

Looks like you should have paid more attention in Sex Ed.

I certainly would not deny my child.
And I would definitely kill my husband in the most slow, agonizing way imaginable.

That is a tough question. But, is committing another sin a way to correct the first? I can completely understand a rape victim's feelings, even though I know I would not myself be able to do it. BUT, what about the baby, why should that baby die, the mother could put the baby up for adoption, isn't that the best choice. IT ISN'T THE BABIES FAULT!!

reply

As a pro-choice Christian, yes they exist, I would urge my daughter to keep her baby. But ultimately, not everyone in this country has Christian values and that's okay. That's good even, to have some diversity. I think abortion sucks but I think it is better legal than illegal. So I'd ask my daughter to keep it but I wouldn't forbid her to do something to her body that she didn't want to do.

reply

It isn't just about the whole "affair" being ethically wrong, but also medically.
I don't remember the English word for it, but incestious breeding doesn't produce healthy children in many cases.

I agree with the last comment, whether you call yourself christian or whatever type of pro-lifer you are, you miss the point. Your daughter would have to carry a baby inside of her that would be a constant reminder of the horrible event that caused this circumstance, and none of us know what kind of trauma that could cause. Plus, and maybe more importantly you guys say "It's not the baby's fault." or things of that nature - so then why punish the baby? There is a very good chance that a baby born as a product of rape by her father could have many physical and/or mental problems. It is not always better to be born. This child could have a terrible life. You guys never seem to take these things into consideration. Let's think about your daughter in this case, why should she be punished because she was raped by her father? She is the one who will be traumatized for the rest of her life and would have to provide for the special needs this child may have. I will just never understand your way of thinking.

Glad to see someone finally mention this. Inbreeding is taboo for a reason. Because it's HARMFUL. It vastly increases risk of birth-defect!

"A study of 29 offspring resulting from brother-sister or father-daughter incest found that 20 had congenital abnormalities, including four directly attributable to autosomal recessive alleles."

see this is why i'm anti religion, and pro using your own bloody common sense!!!! Let me try to get this...you would URGE your daughter to keep your OWN HUSBANDS BABY!!???? her father!!?????
very healthy outlook on life..personally.I think JESUS is cringing in paradise right now.

reply

What you have to explain is why the baby should be punished to death because of the sin of the father?

Abortion should only be used to save the physical life of the mother, and even then only as a last resort.

reply

first of all a cluster of cells is not a baby .no more than your appendix.and second ..Would you really be ok with a girl having to keep her own fathers baby? A child that is likely to be disfigured and possibly braindamaged due to the close bloodline? And what kind of life do you think that child would have? Oh hello my father is also my grandfather..my mother killed herself because of it,and me i'm a suicidal wreck. This is why I'm against all kinds of religion,,it makes people into puppets that can't reason out of their own heads anymore.

yes if you believe that there is no moral without religion..which I don't .
True kindness and generosity is obstructed by religion..Just look at our history. We have wandered around like headless chickens for hundreds of years and done all kinds of crazy things in the name if god and the bible,,,funny how some just keep going.

"a cluster of cells is not a baby"

Wow, as a woman who is in her fifth pregnancy and has only been able to carry one to term, I find your comment horrifying and disgusting. I've seen my baby's heartbeat... This is a BABY, not an effing cluster of cells. I really would like to say that since your name is Amanda, I assume you're female, and I hope to all that is holy that you NEVER have to go through what women in my position have gone through. And that if you do have children and don't just kill them cause you can, that your daughter or daughter-in-law doesn't one day go through this.

Would I ask my daughter to keep the baby? Doesn't even matter. I can't believe no one has said this yet... it wouldn't even come up... My husband is a decent person and would never lay a hand on my daughter in ANY way... And the fact that people have actually CONSIDERED what they would do in this situation disgusts me. If you don't KNOW that your husband won't do this, then why on Earth are you married to him??????

And, yes, I'm pro-life. I was pro-choice in my late teens and early twenties until I had my first miscarriage. That pain made me realize that every child is a child and deserves whatever chance they can get.

Well in a perfect world men do not rape their daughters and get them pregnant ,sadly it happens all the time. And all the time we have to choose what life is worth living and who gets crossed of the list. You strike me as desperately naive.I hope really that none of these thing ever happen to you cause it would probably push you right of the edge.
I work with fugitives and with families with substance abuse problems,,,and if you haven't already figured that out .Iv'e seen a thing or two.Beleive me..there are no easy choices, and NOTHING is black and white. Now just go right back to sleep ,in your little fantasy land sweetheart.

The postings on this thread is absolutely hilarious. The fact that you would make your daughter give birth to a baby conceived by rape, nonetheless from her very own father, it's funny. It's even funnier because it's not your decision.

reply

I'm pro choice, yet conservatively that way. I only agree with abortion if it is as a result of rape, incest or other such rare circumstances, such as danger of death to the baby's mother. I think that anyone in their right mind would have an abortion if it were their father's child. I mean, being prolife is great and all, but honestly, there is a point where you can take a principle too far and compromise your own value as a person.

reply

I hope none of you ever get put in this position. It's so easy to judge (you think) but you can never know for sure what you would do until the (individual) circumstances occurred TO YOU. So my suggestion is DONT JUDGE!

If that happened to me I think I'd have to get into the knife business.

If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.

I would kill my husband and let my daughter have the abortion. Then again I'm pro-choice. I made the choice to kill that bastard.

This was posted so long ago, but thought I would reply anyways. As a mother I am not in this situation, the thought of incest makes me sick. I would for one thing divorce my husband, and make him do jail time. But then again I may be doing jail time, cause I would kill is sorry ASS!!! On the abortion issue I would say she should do adoption. It is not the innocent babies fault of what happened. I still say abortion is murder. So adoption is the way.

reply

I like how all you pro-killers out there always go to rape of the worst kind but that's not where 99% of the abortions are coming from are they. Baby killers are broken people who have lost the inherit love to care for their offspring.

reply

Is that why 6 out of 10 women who abort already have living children?
