'Jack didn't know his business.'

It's been a few years since I read the book, but I was rewatching the film version this week--about halfway through, after Mr. Rose and the migrants return for the next season (and after it's clear that Mr. Rose has raped his daughter), he makes the comment, "Jack didn't know his business. AIn't that right, Money?" And Money looks unsettled, then Rose closes the curtain. Are we to understand that part of the reason Jack isn't with them is because he knew what happened and wasn't afraid to stand up to Mr. Rose, unlike the other workers, who are clearly aware but stay mum?

You're a sexual Disneyland.
