The theme from this movie is amazingly popular--it's been used in countless trailers (such as THE NOTEBOOK) and montages at awards shows. Possibly that's where you've heard it.

The winner of Best Original Score went to THE RED VIOLIN, but I think that either this film or AMERICAN BEAUTY should've won--just like the guitar-strumming love theme to BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, there are pieces of music that you just never let go, and this one did it for me.

Did he train you? Did he rehearse you? Did he tell you exactly what to do, what to say?!

It sounded like the music from "The Count of Monte Cristo" with Jim Cavesil (sp?). Especially the part where he escapes from the prison and is on the beach.

There's a piece in the movie "Deep Impact" during the scene where the father and the daughter meet on the beach that sounds almost identical to the piano music in this movie.

It's pretty similar to the song she did for Mona Lisa Smile.

The state of Michigan's tourism agency uses this music in in "Pure Michigan" TV and radio ads. That's where I first rediscovered it. Works very well.
