Why didn't Homer visit the orphanage? And do you agree with the ending?

He spent, what, 2 years away? And he didn't visit the orphanage once? The nerve! He spent his whole life there, and he can't spare a few days to see his old friends and loved ones?

Also, do you think he made the right decision at the end? It was nice to see him come back to the orphanage and take over Larch's position, but I was hoping that when he said "I'm moving on" in the back of the truck, he meant that he was truly moving on to another state or country, was going to continue exploring and seeing the world, trying new things, meeting new people. Its like, he had sex with a woman for the first time, he had a nice job, spent a couple of years on an apple farm, and then, back to the orphanage for another 40 or 50 years. Whats the point???

You obviously missed the point of the story. If he'd have done what you wanted him to do it wouldn't have been so good.
