This is certainly one of the best films of all time.

I have watched this film over and over again and have also read the book, which delves more into the moral dilema of the characters. It is beautifully acted, beautifully written and has an incredible score. The only flaw I can find with the film is the "what is your business?" bit. I believe this should be in the top 250 and certainly deserves more than a 7.4 rating. I have seen almost every film in the top 250, and there are very few that can compare to this.To me, only Stand By Me captures the feeling of innocence this film does.

Running On Empty with River Phoenix and Judd Hirsch (sp) and others falls into your catagory. Great movie if you have not watched it.

reply

I agree, definetaly among imdb top 250

I saw it yesterday for the first time, but i missed the beginning. I have a question for you all. Was Homer retarded?

reply

No. You should watch it again. If that's still a pressing question, maybe this isn't your type of movie.

He's a very smart person with very little exposure to the world beyond the orphanage. His choices are naive, but well-intentioned.

This film is warped and so are you.

I loved the book, but wasn't a big fan of the movie.... I would say it's a little above average. I was able to fill in some of the gaps the movie left out, but I just didn't see the movie doing a good job of building the characters and making you care about them. The movie makes Candy into a slut, "I'm no good at being alone." You never get to see why Larch is so pro-choice, which is why I think "pro-life" people are so against this movie. "What is your business" was a part of the book as well, it emphasized how Mr. Rose was able to control the workers so well. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie so much, maybe if I rewatch in a year or so I'll be able to appreciate the movie more.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. - The Dude

I love this movie. It is in my top 100 movies (and I've seen way too many movies.)

I'm watching it in High Def right now, and I've seen it maybe about 6 times, and it makes me cry more each time I see it.

Gosh, Charlez is so beautiful. Her and Toby's acting is so great. I definitely think this movie is worth more than a 7.4 rating. I think the pro-life people talk this movie down.

I definitely agree. This movie deserved a rating more than 8. It was one of the movies in which the casting was absolutely spot-on.
