Amazon puts Fox Books out of business

I was just wondering does anyone think that Fox Books would even exist now in a world with Amazon?

reply

Good question. I imagine Fox Books may have had to downsize, but could still be in business. It seems like some people still like to go to bookstores in person. Fox Books also probably would've added an online option.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

joe fox...downsize? would his massive ego allow that?

Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million do. So, yes, it would still exist. By the way, Barnes and Noble stock has appreciated 40% in the past year compared to 12% for the entire stock market.

I really hope B&N doesn't go out of business anytime soon, because I love my Nook!

It could exist still. They'd have to develop an eReader device and create an online store but it certainly still could exist. Barnes and Noble still is around and they really push the Nook even in the stores so I assume that's a big money maker for them.

I hope they went out of business like Blockbuster. They probably couldn't get into E=books and on line shopping. They were so glib about closing the other smaller books stores. They deserve to go bankrupt. Very sweet movie. I was hoping he would hire her to run his children's book department. But I am glad that her employee got the job.

Interesting, my local Barnes & Noble is always packed. And people are buying real books, not looking at Nooks. In fact, I can't remember the last time I went in there and saw anyone in the Nook section at all. I think e-books might be a fad.

I always thought Fox Books was Borders. Weird how Borders was the big chain and is gone while Barnes and Noble still exists. In the town where I work, there is a local book store. I've looked for books there and can't find them , since they have a small selection. But, people are supporting their local businesses.

Maybe it now sells coffee besides books.🐭

Well Amazon is pretty much a bust in my country (The Netherlands). Local bookstores thrive as never before, although the bigger stores (like the Fox book stores) are getting bigger.
The small local book stores have got more specialized items which can't be found (or even ordered in a short period of time) at big stores.
