Was this movie supposed to be serious?

I am debating whether this movie was made with the intention of making a good movie or if they knew it was horrible?

It was meant as a spoof, but the jokes are so unfunny that it could be mistaken for a attempt at a serious action film.

However, the Joe Bob Briggs commentary is comedy gold.

As a serious film is very funny, as a funny film is very serious! =P

Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

Yeah, exactly.

It was probably meant as a serious cop action movie with occasional jokes like Lethal Weapon. I'm guessing Amir Shervan probably loved lethal weapon and wanted to make something in similar taste. Instead we got the most awesome horrible movie ever. It's probably only Tommy Wiseau that comes close to the acting in Samurai Cop

I think it was meant as a mostly serious movie, but with the occasional funny bit.

Some of the comedy is intentional.

But as was said earlier, as a serious movie, it's pretty funny. But if you were led to believe it was a comedy, you'd think "Why so serious?"

Hannon I think has said that Amir was from Iran(?) and thought the tropes he filled this movie with were what typical American action flicks were all about...he just did it on a shoe string budget and with no real understanding of how to run a movie production.

It's meant to be serious, aside from some intentionally humorous moments. I'm sure the actors knew it was shitty while making it. I'm sure they tried their best though.
