Cyril's Voice

I've watched this cartoon for a long, long time, and I'm wondering something.

I wonder if Michael Magee ever just threw his voice out of whack after recording sessions for The Raccoons? Cyril has this really raspy voice, and then there's all that yelling he does.

reply

Yeah, I remember reading (I think it was on the Unofficial Raccoons website) that he lost his voice a lot during sessions. I believe it was in the same paragraph that mentioned that the character recordings were all done separately, except for the pigs' voices, who were all recorded together (Len Carlson and Nick Nichols). Apparently the pigs recording sessions in particular were a lot of fun for everyone involved.

I can imagine!

Actually, after viewing various episodes from YouTube, as well as "The Lost Star" special, there were moments where Cyril sounded a bit . . . . off, let's say, so that answered my question.

reply

well IMDB is known to have mistakes but it does show that a different actor did Cyril voice's for the lost star special.

although i'm not sure if its true because while he does sound off as you say, it still sounds the same. i'm thinking its just a case of an animated voice changing with time like many shows. (Homer Simpson for example)
