The films message is as timely as ever...

That's right. BASEketball has a message. A message about how pro sports are a breeding ground of greedy business men and sportsmen who loose their way and become greedy puppets of the greedy business men. With all the stuff with the NBA lockout, I feel this film's message is very relevant. The love of the game is a very hard thing to find these day and, to me at least, that's a very sad and horrible thing. Coop and Remer, fictional as they may be, will always hold a dear place in my heart for the morals that they stood for.

Amen to that. Watched this for the billionth time last night and am amazed at how much the moral still stands true. Especially nowadays...

yeah it seems like we're literally just around the corner from a team name being corporate. The memphis grizzlies were close to becoming the Xpress (fed ex) also steelback beer before going bankrupt was bidding on a CFL team to be called the steelbacks.

Hockey is coming out with any novelty they can to attract new fans (shootouts).

Baseballs attendance continues to dip.

NBA teams are moving all across the country.

Excessive celebrating in the NFL did get pretty bad but now they are doing everything they can to curb that.

Most of the South Park episodes have central messages too. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are geniuses at weaving political themes into their body of hilarious work.
