Terrible Fashion

The long black trench coats the leather straps, the glasses... Bit gay.

It was common to Goth style at the time.

That's actually a good point right there bubba.

It's very 90's and I remember how a lot of people dressed like this at that time.

In the 1980s, 'all-black clothes' were something either depressed, mentally disturbed people or funeral visitors wore. So-called 'normal' people didn't wear all-black clothing.

The clothing in this movie is extremely silly, and pretty uselessly so as well. When you're trying to blend in and look inconspicuous, wear DARK GLASSES AT NIGHT! Yeah, that's the ticket!

People often forget that Neo doesn't even wear leather jacket, but cloth jacket of some kind.

I am glad at least 'Switch' uses brighter variation of the stuff, but it still looks like 'poser clothes' to me. Those clothes are not functional, they're not beautiful, they're not 'blending in'-type clothes, they're like the stupidest and ugliest, most boring choice they could've made (not to mention the animal-cruelty meter, which is pretty darn high when wearing murdered animals' skin).

Sunglasses serve no purpose, leather is hard to move in, long, cape-like jackets are cumbersome and can get caught in places (just watch 'The Incredibles' to know what I mean), and those boots CAN'T be comfortable to run and do martial arts in.

It would look much better if they were more Jackie Chan-style clothes from the movies where he does his best stunts and fights (though even he does wear the skin jacket in some movies, sadly).

Then again, the agents' outfit isn't exactly optimal for fighting and running, either.

IMO that’s really the only aspect of this movie that definitely did not age well.
