How was Gwynneth's hair filmed?

Does anyone recall hearing or reading how the issue of Gwynneth's long blonde hair managed for the scenes in which she played Thomas Kent? There is no way I can see how she could have hid all that hair under the short-haired wig. Yet the long locks look genuine, so I doubt that's a wig. I'm guessing that all the scenes in which her hair was long were shot first, then she cut her hair short for all the scenes with her disguised as Thomas Kent. I can't think of any other way they could have done it. Anyone know?

I don't know exactly what happened, but really the only thing that makes sense is that she had her hair cut fairly short for the entire film. That way the Thomas Kent scenes could be handled easily with a wig. As for the long hair scenes, yes, they look great. But the hair around her face could easily be her own and the rest a wig. If it were real hair, it would look very genuine.

Of course the long hair was a wig! She was wearing wigs the whole movie. None of that was her real hair.

She had extensions, not a wig.

I'd wondered that myself. In the unmasking scene, you never actually see the moment when the hypothetical "short wig" comes off.
