How was Gwyneth Paltrow's English accent? Was it very convincing, did it sound real? I was very impressed by her accent, but I'm American so my perception is obviously going to be different. I remember watching movies where an American portrays a British person and I didn't think anything of their accent, but then British people would comment saying how bad the accent was.

She's really good. She's excellent in Emma, too - really, you would never guess that she wasn't English.

Yes, I think she's excellent at British accents. She even does the "class" differentiations correctly. Compare the difference in her SIL and Emma to her slightly lowered class accent in Sliding Doors.
