Glass doo-dad with Shakespeare's name within

The scene during which Burbage is being enthusiastically serviced by the prostitute ends with something glass hurled against the wall.
Burbage picks up a shard and finds a bit of paper with "William Shakespeare" written upon it.
He later refers to Shakespeare "dipping his quill" into the same woman as he.
So--What is the glass object? Is it a birth control device? A sex toy? A piece of jewelry? Can anyone help?

Thanks!

It is a braclet that is shaped like a snake. It flies off of Rosaline's wrist when Burbage dumps her on the floor. The braclet was originally given to Will Shakespeare by a doctor who is helping him get over his writer's block. The doctor tells Will to write his name on a piece of paper, feed the paper into the mouth of the snake and give it to his muse to wear. She will then dream about him, and that is supposed to inspire him so he can write again. Will chooses Rosaline to be his muse, but forgets all about her when he meets the beautiful Viola De Lesseps.
