Is it scary?

I know this film is an 18 in the UK and from what i have read about it there is quite a bit of violence in the film but i was just wondering is the film really as scary as its made out to be. I'm not sure whether to get it as i'm not that keen on really scary movies but i love Anime films.

It isn't too scary, there are a few violent scenes, some nudity and a shocking rape scene which is actually part of a film within a film which we know the character is only acting.

I'm only going to say this once: stay out of Camberwick Green - Sam Tyler

I would say that different people will interpret the scare factor of this movie differently, depending on the individual things that tend to disturb them.

I personally didn't find it all that scary, as I've watched a large number of horror films before, and as a result found this to be nowhere near as disturbing as some of the others I've already seen. But at the same time there is an undeniably creepy eerie atmosphere throughout this movie which, alongside the violent scenes, is enough to define the movie as being scary to many.

It's more a thriller than a horror movie. There's some suspense and violence, but I wouldn't call it scary.

It's all part of the plan.

It's a psycho-thriller. It can be taken as scary personally I loved it for the shocking twists in it.

NO, but nudity is excessive

It's not a horror movie, its a psychological thriller/social commentary on Japan. If you've seen Kon's other work you'll know what to expect.

I didn't think so, that was one of the points of the movie I thought, the sexualization and perversion of modern Japanese media.

LOL, wut? Did you even watch the movie? There was hardly any nudity.

I never watch horror movies becouse I don't like scary or voilent movies either but I eventually decided to watch this no matter what since it was the only Satoshi Kon film I hadn't seen and I wanted to see it. To my suprise i wasn't scared one bit, the film had my attention 100% of the time and my eyes were fixed on the screen. Sometimes it was a bit tense but never scary. There are alot of shots of full nudity but since its animated and very brief (flashing between pics really quickly) it didn't bother me much, the only part of the film that made me flinch was the scene where a guy gets stabbed in the eye and then the crotch. But all in all eye was glad I watched it and it hasn't really affected me att all.

Plus I think the parental advisatory on IMDB is a bit exagerated. Most of the gory murders it goes on about arn't seen you just see the bodys of the victims briefly. Had this been a live action film like it was originally intended to be though, it probably would have been alot scarier.

You must have seen a censored cut... there was TONS of nudity. I noticed that IMDB is showing a runtime of 81 minutes; my copy is 90 minutes.

The BBFC* passed this film uncut for film and DVD, films always appear shorter on DVD/video because film is 24 frames per second but UK TV is 25 frames per second.
