Sam I Am

I was just rewatching this episode today. I didn't realize it before but It cracked me up on how quickly piper jumped back before even Leo or Paige did when phoebe was taking the dark lighters arrow out of Sam on the couch and she said "anyone with white-lighter blood step back now!". Piper was so quick to jump back because of her baby and the look on her face.

It's also interesting in this episode that phoebes fight with Cole wasn't just about vanquishing him by any means as she stated to piper, but much deeper. Was more about her wanting Cole to suffer defeat at her hands. She needed Cole to fight her so she can can vanquish and defeat him in a battle and see his face knowing she defeated him. Seemed evident when she hesitated to throw the potion when she realized Cole was trying to commit suicide. If phoebe really just wanted Cole dead she would have thrown the potion iregardless. But being a lovers quarrel such a death wasn't fulfilling enough for her.

I think this is the episode too where one of the sisters says these potions are stronger than the ones we used on the source. they didn't use any potions on the source

I saw it as more Phoebe only wanted to kill Cole for the sake of self defence or as punishment like any other demon for evil doing.

She didn't just want to show up and kill his pathetic self whilst he's just minding his own business at the penthouse or crazily trying to commit suicide.

She wanted him to do something to warrant being vanquished.

I always took those sort of "on my terms" things as Phoebe not wanting to give the demon what he wanted. He wanted to die, to take the simplest way out. But that's not good enough, it's not fair after all he's done. He doesn't get to dish out all that torment and then just decided he's had enough; there needs to be an opportunity for the opposition to fight back, at least.

Cena doesn't overcome any odds. He's a wrestler with a God Mode cheat on.

I wish she'd act like Ask Phoebe and figure out some way for him to atone for what he had done. *Then* they could vanquish him.

No, I wish they'd just left him in Season Four where he belonged.

When she confronted Cole and he said "I can't be evil and you won't let me be good" I felt for him. Phoebe knew very well why cole attacked them with the dark lighter. Piper was confused asking why Cole would attack them now and that he was usually smart but the attack wasn't. Phoebe conveniently said nothing to Piper at the time about her earlier confrontation with Cole in his apartment and that she threatened to vanquish him.

Actually quite the opposite. She wanted a valid reason to vanquish him, as if to make her heart realize he's a demon who has to die.

Like for example, think of this hypothetical scenario. Say the person you love the most in the world (husband, wife, partner etc) is possessed by a demon. You know he/she is possessed and can't be saved. He/she is standing right in front of you, you know you have to pull the trigger but you don't have the heart to. The only way you can definitely do it is if he/she attacks you.

I assume it's something like that. For better or worse she must've still loved him a bit at that stage, and she couldn't just pull the trigger. Phoebe needed a real reason to vanquish him.
