When do I stop watching?

I'm watching That '70s show again from the beginning, and although I love it, I remember that I didn't like the season finale at all (Eric leaving, Donna with some other guy, Jackie and Fez together, Fez being a pervert). When should I stop watching the show? In what season the series stops being good?

(Sorry for my english 😊 )

I've been rewatching this on Netflix and it definitely starts going down the crapper during the 6th season.

for me, there were two times when the show was boring. first, when kelso got a haircut in season 7. the second one was when kelso went to Chicago and eric left for Africa and the writers replaced him with Randy Pearson wich was the unfunniest character in the whole series. I know it was the actors choice to leave the show but the producer should've made them an offer wich they couldn't refuse.

I believe the kids were making a million dollars an episode by then. He must have had some deep personal reason for leaving. If I was in that boat, I couldn't imgine leaving that gravy train!

reply

You believe wrong since you just made up that number entirely out of your head. No one since Friends had a cast make that much money, and this show ain't no Friends level popularity/revenue drive.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Do you realize it's possible to correct someone without being a butt hole?

reply

The Big Bang theory main three make a million an episode, and I believe there are others shows that do too

Yeah Im pretty sure Charlie Sheen was making $1M an episode and they offered Ashton similar money after Sheen left. I remember reading somewhere Ashton and Topher were getting around $300k an episode for the 6th season. Wilmer was getting 100k an episode. Not sure on the others.

If I remember right, Fox originally was going to end the show at the end of season 7 so Topher and Ashton found new work. When Fox decided to do another season, they weren't available.

It honestly lost me when Hyde starting dating Jackie. I never bought that relationship. Not right at all for the Hyde. I know he constantly said he dated her because she's hot. But still. It went against his own belief system as it were. It bugged me to no end. I still watched the show after they started, but it wasn't the same. Actually the show wasn't the same after the 1st. season. 1st season was magical. They never got to that level of hilarity. They never did. Reminded me of the first season of The OC. Another great first season followed by a steadily declining show.

I say watch all through but that's because I hate leaving thing unfinished, but for me 1-4 are the best season, the show is still funny just not on the same level. The last season broke my heart but I haven't watched since it originally air so maybe a revised would change my mind.

Don't watch season 8. It's just awful. Randy is so bad it's just unforgivable.

reply

I soooo agree! I can't stand Randy. Terrible acting. He made the last season so bad! And I can't imagine why Donna would even think of dating him.

reply

Don't stop, complete it.

Season 8 does go downhill a bit but there's still enough good stuff in there to keep me interested.

Seasons 1 thorough 4 were the real show, in my opinion. After Kelso and Donna left for California, that was basically the series finale.

After that, the show was basically just on the air as long as they could keep it going to make as much money as they possibly could, but the vibe of the show as never the same as the first four seasons. Which is a shame because the first four season are right up there with the best sitcoms of all time.

Doin the same thing right here, started watching on netflix.

The show defnitely overstayed it's welcome, it's getting downwards during season 5 but season 6 is really mediocre.

Since i also hate stopping in the middle, will watch till the better end (did the same thing with smallville, oh my god ...)
