I watched this on Encore Mystery (end spoilers)

Usually remakes of classics don't get a glance from me. What caught my eye on this one was a post-injury Christopher Reeve, so I stuck around to watch it. I have a sister in law who is a physical therapist and her job has always intrigued me for years, so I was really drawn in by the first half hour and watching how life operated for the physically impaired main character. This was the film's strongest and most accurate detail; if you are disabled and yet have above average wealth in the US then you have a lot of technology on your side to lessen the difficulties of life. Even though the suspense was nowhere near as palpable as it was in the original, I stuck with this one and forgave it for not giving more thought to characters who seemed important, like the ex-wife or the police officer friend because it was a made-for-TV movie.

It all fell apart at the end, though. I even had to look at the end time of the movie to see if that was all they were really going to show! It almost seemed like Reeve was trying to pitch an idea for a TV series about the crime and spend a few seasons in the attempt to find justice for a possibly murdered woman. At least in the original there was closure. This movie ends on a positive note but feels like they wrapped it up just in time for the nightly news.

It was on again today on the same channel. I don't know how the original ended, although I figure it was very similar. The idea was that the guy is going to jail, just not for the murder. I guess that bothers Kemp, but what can he do?
