Dude, there's about a dozen "nods" to other films throughout the LotR trilogy.

LotR also gives nods to the first Star Wars Trilogy, the Bakshi cartoon, Lawrence of Arabia, Army of Darkness, E.T., Monty Python, and Animal House to name a few.

Oh and The Wizard of Oz is sprinkled throughout the trilogy as well. This Youtube video does a good job grabbing some scenes and citing original works:
