The messages about how death isn't the end, blah, blah, blah

A bit on the nose wouldn't you say?

Gandalf to Pippin in the film?

Or Aragorn to Arwen in the appendices?
"In sorrow we must go, but not in despair. Behold! we are not bound for ever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory."

The style of the book is rooted in epic and poetry and sometimes that means hitting the nail right on the head with flowery words in defiance of the postmodern, snide, ironic detachment.

While I would never say that the film's writing holds a candle to Tolkien's original work (indeed, very little writing of any sort could), there are in-text examples of that kind of thing.

Yeah that theme was pretty much every where and I feel like Jackson was insulting our intelligence as if we weren't smart enough to figure it out.
