How Did This Show Ever Make It To Television?

I am shocked and amazed that this show actually made it to television. It astonishes me to no end that the powers that be at Comedy Central actually gave it the green light. It's not often the suits in charge can actually see brilliance.

This show is a diamond in the rough. It is so clever, funny and creative that I would never have imagined that they would have 'gotten it' in the first place. The corporate mentality that canceled it is what I would have imagined may have prevented it from ever getting made to begin with.

As bummed as I was when they canceled it, I'm grateful we at least got three seasons.

Long live UCB!!!

After reading your title and first 2 sentences, i thought i was gonan have to go upside your head...

Yeah, its surprising anyone gave it a shot... if only they could get it out on DVD now.

I really wish Bravo could have done the same with A.S.S.S.S.C.A.T.

If you really think about it, a lot of popular sketch comedy shows really cater to an obscure sense of humor. Somehow they get picked up and somehow they pick up a somewhat large audience.

Think about it:
Monty Python
Kids in the Hall
Upright Citizens Brigade
Mr. Show with Bob and David
and
Stella

I really think monty python is the only show on your list that isn't brilliant. It truly is the family guy of scetch comedy, pointless, overrated, and unfunny. the rest are gold though. Stella really isn't sketch comedy however. The State was and had the guys from Stella in it.

And let's not forget the sketch comedy classic, Exit 57, featuring amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello, Stephen Colbert, Mitchell Rouse and some other chick who never really did anything after it was cancelled.
The rest had a hand in creating Strangers with Candy, which is also a stroke of pure genius.

UCB actually survives as a sketch comedy troupe, I believe, but perhaps that is mis-information. Be easy enough to research, I suppose.

they host the Upright Citizens theatres when there is a major ASSSCAT event. every once in a while. I am prettty sure it is a "school" where people interested in improvisational humor perform nightly. Human Giant is comprised of three or four but tehy are always getting all kinds of guests even recently Zach Galifinakis. They are currently fiilming for 2007 comedy show for MTV.

difference is monty python is british and kids in teh hall is canadian. there is a much drier wit there. for UCB to be american and air on an american channel is great.

im sure there large following prior to the show didn't hurt either.
