Season 2 DVD made wrong doesnt play in most players

Let me start off by saying I love UCB. I even took some classes at their school...

anyway I just bought the season 2 DVD set last week.

Anyone notice that in most players it gives an error message such as "Unplayable disc" or "This disc is not the correct format" or whatever your dvd player says when it can't play a disc. At first I thought it was just my DVD player being old so I put it in my XBOX360... also got an error message. Then if you eject the disc and close it again a couple times it eventually plays. I re-tryed it in my old dvd player open and closed it a couple times and it played after a couple attempts.

So after testing I found something out... if you put the disc in perfectly straight (UCB logo on disc pointing forward)it reads it on the first try every time.

Apparently there is some sort of line of code on the disc that if it gets read first your dvd player thinks it's not a DVD and if you put the disc in so it reads after that line of code it works fine.

Congratulations to whoever made the dvd discs like this... your an idiot! Now these discs pretty much all need to be recalled, re-made, and re-printed.

Sure it's not just your dvd?

And Comedy Central prob messed with them, they've shown again and again that they absolutely hate this show.

I'm pretty much sure it's every disc because both my disc one and two of this set have this exact error. It would be very odd if both my discs had the error and it was not present in every set.

Since posting yesterday I had the chance to test it on my friends DVD players to make sure it's not just my old dvd player and xbox360 that gives this error. The same error occurs in a pretty much brand new 2007 panasonic dvd player. It also gets the error on my friends other older Phillips dvd player. As it seems this happens in basically every player on the market or at least the 5 I've tried which by statistics 5 out of 5 dvd players old and brand new get the error.

All of the 5 players tested will play the disc if you insert it a certain way.

This is in fact due to a weird code on the disc that has something to do with when you put the DVD into a computer, because if a normal DVD player reads the code on the disc it assumes it's a CD-Rom and not a DVD.

If you put the disc in a certain way it reads the DVD info before it reads the code and will play, but if it reads the code first your DVD player will give you an error message.

I know this sounds crazy but it's true... let me simplify this so it's easy for anyone to understand:
Picture a dot on the dvd disc if inserted so the "dot" is not the first thing the laser hits, it will play normal. However if the dot is lined up for the laser to hit first it will assume it is not a DVD.

That does sound crazy. I have watched my dvds three times completely since I've got them, and never encountered a single problem.

Long Live Playstation!
