Team Rocket was way too repetitive
They kept repeating their opening lines (“to denounce the evils of truth and love” etc)
And every plot with them was basically the same (minus the ship episode where they worked together)
I watched the first two seasons (Kanto, Orange Islands) and quit somewhere during Johto, because I was sick and tired of getting one episode with real action (gym, league battles) for every 99 episodes where Ash deals with Team Rocket's shenanigans in exactly the same way, as if he was stuck in some Groundhog Day or something.
