i could have sworn it was this movie that had a guy commit suicide in the bathroom or something. i saw this in HBO before it came out on DVD. then again that might have been another war movie, if so can anybody tell me which one.

"Full Metal Jacket" is what you're thinking of, not a great movie IMO; the last half gets very odd and ruins the engrossing first half of the film.
shareI enjoyed FMJ, but I could understand why you might not like it. It has an odd structure and if you were expecting an ordinary war movie or even a normally told story, yeah, you might be disappointed. But, hey, it's Kubrick. His movies tend to be more challenging (and challenging isn't always enjoyable).
