Airplane Scene rip-off from Seinfeld

This entire scene, at least for me, seems to be very reminiscent of the the Final Episode of Seinfeld, complete with all the confessions of past sins/crimes, love interests.

Cameron Crowe said that actually happened in real life when he was a Journalist. I don't think he named the particular band though.

Cameron Crowe addresses this in the commentary. He said he was so close to getting away with it when he saw Seinfeld did it first. He ultimately decided to do it anyway, since it was such a pivotal moment in the film.

Yeah, one of the funniest scenes in the entire film. It fits in perfectly right toward the end.
