Did You Hate The Music?

I was into rhythm and blues in this period of my youth and I forgot how much I loathe the music of the period. The movie - is another thing entirely - one of my favorites!

How in the world can you hate this kind of music?...

And in another note, how do you love this movie but hate the music? The music is the main character.

reply

Nah, I agree that the music is a central character of the movie. It sets the tone, the mood. It sets the movie apart. I adore the soundtrack.

reply

Wow! Never seen anyone saying it! Do you like the music now?

reply

Do I like the music now? No. Didn't like mostof the music in Boogie Nights either but that is another favorite movie.

reply

The music of Stillwater?

Yeah, it was kind of lame. I don't think it was really period-accurate either, though I don't have a problem with that. It's certainly in the realm of believability that a fictional band was playing non-period-accurate music in 1973.

The movie was very good, though.

I love the music of that era. So much great stuff happening. If the Sixties were about breaking out of the cage, the Seventies were about smashing the cage and running off in all directions. Around 1973 rock was starting to splinter into hard rock, prog rock, heavy metal, country rock, etc. Wish I could go back and briefly experience life as a teenager then (I was an infant at the time).
