There was something powerful about this movie

This movie blew me away. I don't know if it was the premise, or the story, or the directing, but something about it was freakishly good. It's been 12 years and it still has the same impact on me.

I saw it in the theater when it first came out and I had never seen the original. I remember enjoying the heck out of it that first time. I think strongest thing it has going for it is, it's just plain fun to watch. There's never a dull moment, there's always music, fights, car chases, comedy, and it's all done pretty well. It's no Godfather by any means. But, I think I'd be hard pressed to name a film I had more fun watching than this one. It would have to be pretty high up there on the list.
I just rewatched it for like the 20th time last night. It has been several years since I had seen it and I wanted to refresh my memory. Yep, just as fun as I remember.

Yeah... It has the powerful ability of making me hit the pause button when Angelina is straddling that stick shift.

In all seriousness though, I do enjoy it and will still play it from time to time. This, and the original Fast and Furious.

I know exactly what you are saying. lol. I watched the movie like 5 years ago and I remember enjoying it much more than I thought I would. I kind of forgot about it since and whenever the title came up I would think, "eh, it's cheesy movie that I already saw." But it was on TV recently and I decided to watch it for the heck of it and I got hooked right away. Again, blown away. I suppose it is kind of cheesy but highly entertaining. I think it's the dialogue, suspense, and acting that makes it so good. Nicolas Cage isn't really the best actor and he doesn't come across as a great actor in this movie either but he is likable(at least to me.) That's how he is in most movies, for some reason he's likable. But the two detectives(or cops) that are onto him did an amazing job especially the black dude. The bad guy was very entertaining and ruthless which made it fun to watch. Kind of like a Bond movie villain, it always makes the movies that much more enjoyable. It was very well made, it was cheesy, but cheesy in a 90's action flick sort of way. So not necessarily bad even though it was cheesy. They were going for entertaining, and that's what they achieved. I liked it a lot.

Yup, this is one of those movies that just never gets old. If I find it on TV, I usually flip to it and stay there.
