POS 90's cars

Watching this movie 14 years later....nobody in their right mind would steal half those POS 90's cars, especially all those SUV's. The vintage cars yes, but 90's cars and their nasty plastic interiors? No way.

I don't recall them taking any Taurus??? still, they have the buyer's list and that's what they need to steal.

The movie was RELEASED in 2000 and was probably filmed in the better part of 1999... all the 'newer' cars on the list would HAVE TO BE from the 1990's!

So you're saying that people in the 90s didn't want cars made in the 90s?

reply

Umm.. you do understand that cars are worth more when they are brand new then when they are 15 years old right?

End of line

reply

What are they going to steal then?...2010 cars?...what a *beep*

To all the ignoramuses. Those cars WERE considered bad in the 90's already by most car magazines and the more bold and outspoken car journalists didn't spare their harsh critique of them. To 90% of all people a cool-looking car=good car. That's the only thing you need to consider for them. Never mind the fact some of them were made using outdated technology (even for the 90's), were poorly assembled and used cheap parts. But the makers of this godawful movie reasoned "We need a lot of cool-looking cars for our movie 'cause that'll pull the crowd."

Fast forward 15 years. Now those bad 90's cars have either long since fallen apart (cheap never lasts) or are scrapped. Those which are still around aren't worth squat on the used car market. Now even the ignoramuses are aware they were bad cars - or they just moved on to any present day "jaw-dropping cool-looking car" that is the modern day equivalent.

And why the heck would this South American customer need to have NEW cars stolen in L.A. when he can easily afford them legally since they are dime a dozen all over the world and quite easy to purchase in any reasonably developed country.

Good thing all those 50 cars all happened to be in town on that very day, that they were mostly outside and that none was immediately missed.

Not even the driving was good in this waste of celluloid.
