Martin Lawrence is attached to reprise his role in the follow-up to Big Momma's House to be written by Don Rhymer for Fox and Regency. Rhymer co-wrote the original film, which grossed almost $170 million worldwide in 2000.

In the first film, Lawrence plays FBI agent Malcolm Turner whose latest assignment brings him to a small southern town, where he's determined to trap a brutal bank robber (and recent prison escapee). Malcolm sets up a stakeout across from the home of a southern matriarch known as Big Momma, who's about to be visited by the con's former flame, Sherry, and her son.
