Missed Opportunity for Cameo
It would've been a kind of long way to go for an inside joke, but I think it would've been hilarious if there had been a small part written for the coach of one of the other top contestants (parallel to Michael Caine). Didn't need many lines, just a physical appearance, and the part would be played by Faith Ford. Fans of "Murphy Brown" would remember that her character (Corky Sherwood-Forest) was a former Miss America beauty queen who was a humorous thorn in Murphy/Candice Bergen's side. They could exchange a few double-take glances and some of Bergen's classic glares.
OK, silly, I know, but the idea of it makes me laugh.
