How did Vicious know Spike was a bounty hunter?

So, from what I can gather, Vicious kills Mao and makes it look like Mao killed the other syndicate people so a bounty would be placed on Mao, and this bounty draws Spike out of hiding. And this seems to be Vicious' intent, since he obviously wasn't surprised to see Spike, and had planted a trap for Faye. But this only works if Vicious knew Spike was a bounty hunter, since Spike only thought to return when he saw the bounty on Mao that was made to happen by Vicious. So the only way all this makes sense is if Vicious knew Spike was a bounty hunter, right? And how did he know that?

Connections. Bounty hunting is a legal endeavor so it's not like they're all in hiding protecting their identities.

That was Faye's fault. She was not an experienced bounty hunter, but a con artist, and didn't know what she was walking into.

She didn't have a ticket to the concert and the guy she tossed her key to reported it. They looked up the registration and saw that she listed her home as the Bebop, so they checked out her associates. They would have pulled their bounty hunter licenses, which presumably had their pictures on them. One of them was a guy named Spike who looked very much like the Spike who "died" or otherwise left the Red Dragon. I'm fairly certain he would not be using his real name while on the run from the syndicate. He kept his first name but took on the name of Spiegel - I suspect his name was Yenrai from when Mao took him in as a child. That's from the Anime Guide, the bit about Mao taking in Spike and Vicious.

Anyway, they found out this Faye was an associate of Spike's, and with her there, Spike would have to know that Mao was dead and would be coming for revenge.

That's my thinking at least.
