Do you have a favorite episode?

It's sort of tough for me but I like the very first one and the one where they get Ein, and the one with that weirdo rock lobster space monster thing. :D

The lobster. Definitely the lobster. Spike trying to light his cigarette with the flame thrower is an enduring image.

My favorites are Hard Luck Women, My Funny Valentine, and the Jupiter Jazz storyline.

Honorable mentions include Waltz for Venus, Speak Like a Child, and Mushroom Samba.

I'm quite fond of the Faye-centric episodes, I guess maybe because she resonates really well as a protagonist, possibly because she's closer to being from our time period? And there's this kind of fish-out-of-water but really competent, but simultaneously having a hilariously messy life, element that makes her episodes kind of pop tonally, combining comedy with drama and character, even though I think I like all the characters roughly the same. Also, it could be because her issues, while outrageous, also seem very contemporary and grounded, with money problems and wondering about her place in the world, while the other characters inner lives are so impenetrable, but she takes it all in stride anyway. The other characters issues are kind of murky, dark, pulpy things that, while entertaining and great for the overall show, don't resonate in the same way to me, even if their characters do.

So yeah, Speak Like a Child is probably my favorite, along with My Funny Valentine and the Jupiter Jazz episodes. Loved her friendship with Gren.

But I LOVE the scene when Spike falls out the window of Ballad of Fallen Angels. That scene and the ending to Speak Like a Child are my favorite scenes out of the show.
