Is Kanae the new Sadako

If there was a sequel to Ring 2, would the "baddie" still be Sadako, or would it now be the ghost of Kanae, who appears behind Okazaki in the final scene?

there are strong hints throughout all the ring films that the victims of the curse become sadako's 'servants' (eg. towel head = ryuji - or maybe toyama. yoichi says that tomoko told him to watch the tape. before reiko dies she sees the four kids and her father all still suffering because of sadako. etc etc.)
i suppose it's kinda similar to ju-on (if you've seen it or the remake, the grudge). being killed by sadako isn't the end of it. the victim becomes a 'ghost'. kanae wanted revenge on okizaki for letting her die. ryuji, being strong-willed and psychic himself, was able to help his son after he died.

I will s**t down scorpions of pain upon thee!

Becoming an onryu, or vengeful ghost, is supposed to require something really, REALLY tragic happening that ended your life, and which led to your spirit becoming extremely angry. Sadako's transformation from a sweet girl to an onryu is explained by the fact that she survived for 30 years down in the well before finally dying. That allowed her to amass a hell of a lot of rage before finally dying and becoming a vengeful ghost! Sadako's ghost is let loose on the world through the medium of video tapes, and she is fairly indiscriminant as to whom she kills.

But Kanae dies one night, and over the course of that same night, her ghost begins to haunt Okazaki, through the video tape copy at the newspaper office. We later see her in his asylum room. There is no indication that she has developed a great deal of anger at the whole world, or that she is hellbent on venting that anger upon anyone else but Okazaki.

So I would say no, at the end of Ringu 2, Kanae is not the new Sadoku--at least not yet.

But who's to say that torturing/killing Okazaki would be enough for Kanae's ghost? Maybe she might find that she rather likes that sort of thing, and doesn't want to stop with just one?

EDIT: As an alternative thought, what if RYUJI was the new Sadako? He just took on a great deal of her negative energy at the end of this film. And he always seemed a little insensitive or callous in life, to me. What if he just set HIMSELF up to become a new vengeful ghost?!
