Did the Merovingian and his crew survive Smith?

I think they did. Merv probably was able to cut off his mountain fortress from the rest of the Matrix sufficiently to keep Smith at bay.

Didn’t Smith refer to Sati as the last exile or something? So it’s implied that Smith took over Merv, his wife, and others

I thought that just meant she was the last one to leave the machine world.
