Ben Yahzee doesn't look like a Jap... at all.

So, how the hell did he pass for one when trying to get to the japanese radio?

Perhaps in the stress of battle, the Japanese soldier wasn't thinking straight.

And furthermore, when Joe Enders gave him a command in English, why didn't they just shoot both of them. Funniest part in the whole movie.

Well, they didn't know it was a command. It was in English.
