Almost the same as saving private ryan??

I have find out that in both movies, the guy with tommy gun dies in the end and the one with BAR survives the conflict and the ending is still blah........... planes' strikes save them then ends...

SPOILERS

Well squad leaders often used Thompsons, and it just so happened that they die in each film. I guess it's coincidence of Chick and Edward Burns living. (And James Ryan had an M1 Garand I seem to remember, where Yahzee has an M1 A1 Carbine.)

yeh but i thought it was good.
i havent seen anyone give any good reasons for disliking it apart from historical innacuracies and "oh its john woo! he uses to much explosives!"

reply

You want something besides the historical innaccuracies?

How about...The bad acting, cliched characters, and over-done explosions, wouldn't be surprised if the same special effects department used for "Windtalkers" was used for "True Lies"

reply

I found no fault in the acting, characters and explosions that people CLAIM there are problems with in this this movie.

the bad acting, terrible action sequences which did not make any sense whatsoever. What were they doing in the first part. They were just walking around a lake or forested area with Japanese jumping out everywhere, yet they were supposed to hold this position. WHAT POSITION????
And didn't Nicholas Cage get blown up. All he had was a grazed ear.
The movie didn't have much of a plot or sense of direction and basically floated along until all but two or three of the U.S. guys were dead.
And what was the point of Frances O'Connor in the movie???

oh no. Please do not compare this movie to Saving Private Ryan.

Have you noticed that Enders keeps getting hit by Granades are by some miracle he flys into the air, and is fine right after?

reply

This movie was accurate as long as people fight wars by firing two guns at once while falling out of a window while everything everywhere is exploding, or while having Mission Impossible II style knife fights. Oh wait. It's not.
