Rogue as a goth

There are alot of fansites, devoted to the X-men Evolution of Rogue, who love her as a goth. Does anyone else like her because of that?

In my mind, I like her like that because it fits well with her powers and her character since she can absorb people's energy and powers if they have some, she doesn't want to be socially that much. Plus, it gives out attitude which people seem to love. And also, it gives her a cool set of wardrobe.

Anyone else?

Plus , let`s face it The Southern Belle Thing is so outdated !

Don't get too hung up on "Southern Belle." That's just a simple way to describe her because she's from the deep south. She's sexy, sassy, and is an emotionally strong(albeit messed up) woman. "Southern Belle" is just thrown in there for a label. I like her like that. Making her a "goth" teen was a bit lame to me.

Originally, I hated the concept of goth teen Rogue. More than anything, I think it was that she just had a really bad character design. Why the grey skin? I get that she was supposed to be really pale... but grey skin? I also don't get why she had a cleft chin. I was always confused by Rogue's character design because, other than her, the other characters were drawn really well! Scott and Jean looked great. Storm, too.

But now, rewatching the series, I have to say that I appreciate the effort the writers put into really re-imagining Rogue. She is by far the most different from her comic incarnation and it's really interesting. Evolution Rogue is still feisty, but in a different way from classic Rogue. I appreciated that her being goth didn't make her into an annoying, sulky character. Instead, she was a formidable fighter with a lot of sass and anger. Of course, for me, my favorite Rogue will always be the 80s/90s version of her.

I know that some people argue that she was a hypersexual character with cheesy lines and an over-the-top, annoying-to-read accent, but I still love that version of her. She was just so fun! And I'm a big fan of Rogue with Ms. Marvel powers. I loved that she was a woman who could get into fist fights. Most other X-men women have defensive, magical, or telepathic powers. I liked that she was the gung-ho, dive into battle type. And the Ms. Marvel storyline has always been a huge aspect of Rogue's personal character development. I think it was a really interesting story, and it was good impetus for her to join the X-Men.

Although I've now come to terms with goth Rogue, I have to say that I would have really loved it if they had tried to be a little more faithful to the original character. I'm not trying to sound like a snob. I just mean that reallly old school Rogue was a teenager. Although she was definitely angsty about her powers, she also was really playful about it. I liked when she was the unpredictable villain who went around kissing people. Some people have told me they thought she was slutty for doing that, but it's also sort of sad when you think about it. That the early Rogue had accepted she couldn't be intimate without hurting someone, so she used kissing as a weapon against her enemies.

If they had drawn out Rogue's time with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, that would have been cool. See Rogue's more dangerous side. I think she switched over too quickly, but then again, the writers didn't know how many seasons the show would run.

On a side note, the only other thing that really bugged me about the show was Kitty's ditzy voice and personality. The girl was supposed to be a genius!

Why would a banana grab another banana? Those are the kind of questions I don't want to answer.

Kitty was still pretty smart in this show, that doesn't mean she can't have some ditzy surface qualities at the same time.

I liked how they had Nightcrawler as his fun-loving swashbuckler persona instead of the depressing Religious case he was in the movies.

I've always hated Rogue with a passion, she's the main reason I prefer DC to Marvel. People seem to think Rogue is this sexy, badass X-Woman and I could never figure out why, they're just kidding themselves, To me Rogue is nothing but a cowardly, parasitic, b!tch, now Catwoman can proudly wear the crown for the most sexy and badass comic lady who could very easily wipe the floor with this goth version of Rogue in every way, shape and form and if you need more proof of just how badass and sexy Catwoman is than check out this short animated Catwoman movie.

Haven't read the comics, but i prefer Animated series' Rogue. So feisty and the relationship dynamic with Gambit was one of my favourite parts of that series.
