Amara, Amanda, x23...

all looked the same!
I loved this series but did every girl have to be dark complected with long straight brunette hair parted down the middle?

reply

I'm not sure why they didn't make Amara look like her comic book counterpart....unless they wanted to avoid making her similar to Boom Boom since she had blonde hair and blue eyes and I guess they didn't want to go into the whole Nova Roma explanation of why a girl from Rio was so fair skinned.

Amara in Evolution also looked similar to Jubilee when they didn't do close ups.

reply

Actually as far as I have heard the reason for why she looks different from her comic book look is because....she was created for this show and ended up being so popular that she was introduced into the comics later on.......

Slobberknocker!

Are you taking about X-23?....because Amara was introduced in the X-Men comics (New Mutants in particular) back in 1983...and Amanda was introduced in the late 70's. I also thought X-23 in the comics looked pretty much like her X-Men Evolution counterpart.

reply

What are you talking about? Amara, X-23 and Amanda do look different from each other.

There are people with fair skin and light eyes in Brazil. It is as much of a melting pot as all other countries colonized by Europeans.

reply

They all look very different...To be honest I've never gotten used to Amara being so white in the comics...I really prefer the darker complexion...It just made sense.

I'm aware that Brazil is diverse but it just looked better on Amara...

In the comic, I believe she was from crazy lost roman colony in South America which I guess explained her more european appearance, though there are some south americans that look, and are, more Caucasian.

Not only Amara, Amanda, and X23, but also Danielle Moonstar from Season 4's "Ghost of a Chance" looked exactly alike! When Danielle is first shown, she's shown with weird lighting, and she looks just like any of the first 3.

X23 has a masculine face.
