Bird, Teri, or Maxine.....

Which of the sisters is your favorite and why?

reply

Teri because she reminds me of my sister and myself and Nicole Ari looks a lot like my late Aunt

Damn!! My posts attract so many nutty B-A-S-T-A-R-D-S! Juicy Gotcha Krazy! http://tinyurl.com/n6tuh

Teri is my favorite too...I dont know why though..Bird is next in line but only in the show...and The Maxine from the movie is my favorite after that...I dont care very much for Maxine on the show..Her character is very different from Maxine in the movie...as a matter of fact so is Bird's and Terri's...Has any one else noticed that Terri in the movie is more of a bitch than Nicole's Teri...?

reply

I agree...Terri is my favorite sister, then Bird and Maxine. Maxine was catty; she was so much different than her movie counterpart. I also did not like how Ahmad was a little player in the series and had that tenderness removed, which while I think Ahmad in the series had a kind and wise heart, I think Ahmad in the movie was more of an old soul in a young man's body.

I like Bird played by Malinda Williams because so many especially black young girls can relate to her. The on and off relationship she has with her husband, many people can relate to that and also she doesnt take no S H I T either lol

I really like all the sisters BUT Bird happens to be my favorite that I like to watch. I like Maxine's attitude.

muziqk2005 to be honest Terri in the movie and the show still act the same way. There are many episodes in Soul Food(TV show) that reminds me of Terri from the Soul Food Movie. She still has that controlling attitude and whatever she says must be right attitude.

I like all three sisters! I think it's cuz I like something about each one of them. I like the fact that Terri is book smart as well as street savvy and has her stuff together on the career side. I have always wanted to be a lwayer, so I guess I am partial to her role.

I love Bird's spunk and flava!! She is the typical "baby sis". I like that she isn't afraid to go to her sisters for help, but at the same time she has her own life and does what she wants!

Max is cool because she knows how to take care of her man, her kids, her home and have a job on the side! If that aint some flyy ish, i don't know what is!!!

I LOVE THE JOSEPH SISTAS!!!!

Nia LOng's "Bird" in the movie was the most captivating to me, hands down.
Yet on the TV show, I felt like the other 2 characters gained in strength or got fleshed out a little more (or in Maxines case, got a different feel).

Nothing against Malinda's portrayal, but I think Nia Long's Bird was the best.

I loved them all, but BIRD was my favorite. I just found Bird to be the most interesting, and I also loved Malinda Williams (Bird) from the "Wood."

My order would go Maxine (I just love her), Teri (she's so cute) and then Bird (she's kinda annoying to me).

Teri, Maxine, Bird.

Teri - I liked how sophisticated, poised, and 'together' she was. It, in a way, made her stand out from the rest of the family.

Maxine - I liked how she's that 'every' woman/wife/mother, who always knew the right thing to say.

Bird - Eh. She's my least favorite. Sort of bratty.

Here is my order...

1. Teri

2. Bird

3. Maxine

Teri was my favorite cuz no matter what anybody said she did what she wanted to..

Bird was so much like a little sister it was funny.. I loved the way she stood up to her sister but still also listened to them sometimes.

Maxine got on my nerves but I still liked her..

1. Teri - She always did what she wanted and wasn't afraid to be selfish. Plus she was a successful black woman.
2. Maxine - She had all her morals in place(the only one to be friends with her illegitimate sister, not agreeing with Bir'd abortion, etc.), but she played the housewife-mother role TOO well.
3. Bird - Indecisive, whiney, dependent, clingy, the list goes on about her flaws but she was still a lovable character.

It took me quite a while to decide to answer this question, and honestly, I still don't have a definitive answer. I must say, I can relate to all of the sisters and I like & admire them all equally, but differently. They've all done things that made me want to choke them, but they've all been respectable, admirable, nurturing, ambitious, classy and I could probably go on and on.

So, all of that to say, I really don't have a favorite sister. I've come to love them all.

They're all great but I LOVE Bird. She might be my favorite. Maybe because she's the youngest out of three and voila...I'm the youngest out of three so I can ID with her. Also I really love the way her and Lem tried to work things out over the course of their marriage.

It's my house, and I live here.
