Question about season 1

Ok so I haven't seen this show in years but decided to rewatch it and I have a few questions.

1) how come nobody needed to sacrifice monster to summon higher level monsters?

2) I could have sworn the life points you start out with was 8000 and were decreased to 4000 for the rest of the show but it's 2000 and doubles to 4000 in season 2

So I guess it's 1 question and 1 observation.

The rules were changed after Season 1. In that season, monsters did not require sacrifice, could not attack Life Points directly, and you started out with 2000 Life Points.

After Season 1, monsters required sacrificing, could attack Life Points directly, and you started out with 4000 Life Points.

In the real world, you start out with 8000 Life Points. That only happened once in the show because it was 1 vs 2.
