Here we go,
Vic Bedofrd was an American POW, involved in the escape attempts. He knew about the illigal radio, the tunnel and God knows what else. He was a trusted man in the camp by the fellow prisoners.
As the two black (its eaiser than saying whatever the politically correct version is) flight officers thsi sparked a racist reaction from the majority of the camp, especially in Vic Bedford.
He then breaks the 11th commandment and makes a deal with the prison guards. HE Trades the life of Lamar Archer for the localion of the hidden camp radio.

McNamara realises instantly what has happened and realises what Bedford is up to.
As Bedford goes out that night to work on the escape attempt, Lincon Scott follows him to 'put his face in the mud' but finds him dead. He is found standing over the body and is blamed for the murder.
Hart is assigned to defend him, and as the case goes on he slowly realises there is more to the camp than he thought.
He descovers the tunnel, and confrounts McNamara about it and realises that it was McNamara who killed Bedford. McNamara orders him to tell Lincon Scott to take the fall for the murder even though they all know he didn't do it.
The final day of the trial and McNamara goes to blow up the munitions factory. Hart finds out that Lincon Scott has a family, and realising that is war effort is quite pointless, take the fall for the murderhimself.
They go out to kill Hart, but (suprise suprise) McNamara comes back fro lowing up the explosives factory, adn takes the fall for the murder. He gets killed, and everyone leaves the camp in a month or two as the war ends.
