actually - better than i thaught it would be

i thaught it was going to be one of those huge blood and gut films but it wasnt. it is really really good and has a great plot line. colin farrell is amazing in it too but i think it was unfair they put bruce willis as the main character, i mean he was in it for about 20 mins wasnt he, come on, whats all that about. :) lol. seriosly, worth watching though.

I just finshed watching it on Showtime and thought it was excellent. Bruce Willis was in 3/4 of the scenes.....what movie were you watching Dudley?
His hairpiece was hilarious. This was a movie I gambled on and won.

Favorite scene....when Scott testified that black military men in Tuskegee were treated worse than German POWS. I can't believe that...but would bet that it was true.

I just saw it on Showtime as well - I thought it was a great movie. A very realistic portrayal of war (in the early parts) and of the prejudice that was prevalent at that time. *** 1/4

as for black men being treated worse than german POWs, it *was* a very sad fact.

there's an entire section in steven ambrose's "citizen soldiers" (the same author of "d-day" and "band of brothers") that talks about how POW's on both sides of the european theater were treated. ambrose writes how if you were a draft-age german during world war II, being a POW on american soil was the safest, best place you could be! he also talks about racism, even in the armed services, and the irony of how german POWs were often treated better and accorded more freedoms than african-americans.

True, German POWs in the USA were treated better than blacks or even white US soldiers for that matter. They were provided with comfy surroundings, Red Cross and other food parcels, a chance at unescorted work outside(not required) and even were paid an allowance! They were treated a lot better than an AMerican prisoner of the Germans; or god forbid a Russian or a Jew!

it caught me by surprise i was expecting another typical bruce willis movie but it was much better then that.
